April 18, 2010, a Sunday
Parker (K), Colorado, USA
— Lunch with SJ&DilK and packed up
We took it easy this morning to get ready for a big day tomorrow — flying to Philadelphia for my stepfather's memorial service and associated festivities. I had a shaving accident — for lack of a better term. My beard trimmer has a depth gauge with settings that range from 1 (short) to 6 (long). I trimmed my beard at 5 and my mustache at 3 like usual, but then forgot to switch the depth gauge back to 5 after I combed out my beard and did a second pass on it to get any stray hairs that weren't cut the right length the first time. So, I cut about half of my beard off and it wasn't looking so great. :( I had my normal breakfast and worked up a blog entry while drinking my coffee. Then I got J's big rolling duffel out of one of our basement compartments so we could use it for our trip to Philly. We left in the Jeep in time to go ...

To the August Moon (Chinese Restaurant) for lunch with SJ&DilK (J's Son J and Daughter-in-law K) and family around noon. I had my usual King Pao Chicken and J had her usual Sesame Chicken. The food was good and it was nice to visit with SJ a bit.

We went to SJ&DilK's (J's Son J and Daughter-in-law K's) and started a load of laundry, then took GA (grandson A, age 8.5) with us in the Jeep ...

Back to the RV so he could take a picture of the solar panels on our roof for a school project. I started to work up a blog entry.

We returned to SJ&DilK's (J's Son J and Daughter-in-law K's) to transfer the laundry to the drier and spend some time with GJ (grandson J, age 4.5) and GS (granddaughter S, age 3). We left shortly after the laundry finished drying.

We returned to the RV around 4:05. I put away the critical things from the laundry then started to make my spaghetti sauce. We left at 4:15.

We went to Kohl's to get some clothes for the funeral. The weather will be cooler this time than the May funeral we went to last year, so I wanted to get a long-sleeved black shirt to go with the dark gray pants that I have for emergency dress-up occasions. When we moved into the RV, we intentionally downsized our wardrobes and kept only what we'd use on a regular basis plus one set of semi-dress clothes for special occasions. I didn't think just a long-sleeve light blue striped Oxford shirt would be appropriate for a funeral, and wanted to get a black shirt. I found a nice shirt that should work just fine. J wanted to get a new pair of funeral-appropriate pants, and found a pair that would work.

We returned to the RV around 5:10. I finished up the blog entry then started packing for our trip tomorrow.

We had dinner around 7:00 of my spaghetti.

After dinner, I did some more packing then watched my eBay auctions finish: Canon TS-E 24mm f3.5 L (Mk I), Hoya 72mm UV HMC, Hoya 72mm NDX8 (3-stop) neutral density filter, Hoya 77mm NDX8 (3-stop) neutral density filter, B+W 72-77 step up ring, HiTech 4x4-inch (100x100mm) ND.9 (3-stop) neutral density filter, Quantum Cable SD6 (to power Canon 1D series bodies), and an OWC 500GB RAID(0) external hard drive. The lens went for a lot less than I had hoped it would, the Quantum Cable SD6 didn't sell at all, and the other items didn't go for as much as I had hoped either — not a very successful eBay experience. :( I started to pack up the items to ship and got paid for two of them very quickly. :) I got paid for combined shipping for two more before I was done packing things up. I surfed the web a bit to unwind and finally went to bed around 11:25 — much later than usual.
