June 6, 2010, a Sunday
Sellersville, Pennsylvania, USA
— Sunday Buffet and visited Glenside
I got up before my mother and worked up a blog entry. After she got up, we had breakfast, and I had a bowl of Quaker Natural Granola - Oats & Honey & Raisins followed by some fresh blueberries.

We went to the 10:00 chapel service in her retirement community.

After that, we went to visit my step father's old room mate in the nursing center and his wife. Actually, I think my mother was more interested in looking at, and working on, a shaped jigsaw puzzle they were working on.

Then we went back to my mother's apartment to meet my stepfather's daughter P and her husband H.

Then we went to the dining room in my mother's retirement community for Sunday Buffet. My Uncle J (UJ) and Aunt R (AR) arrived and we started in on the buffet. I passed on the soup and had a salad from the salad bar. Then I had prime rib, risotto, and Swiss chard. I had a slice of blueberry pie for dessert — mmm.

We all returned to my mother's apartment around 2:00 and visited some more. UJ and AR left around 3:10 and P&H left around 4:00.

We had dinner around 4:45 of tuna salad on rye, Sun Chips, and carrot salad. I had a Tastykake Blueberry Pie for dessert. Tastykake is a snack bakery in Philadelphia, and for years, Tastykake products were only available in the Philadelphia area, but now some of their products are available in other parts of the country. Tastykake is a Philadelphia institution — if you're from the Philadelphia area, you know Tastykake. Through the years, I've enjoyed their Butterscotch Krimpets, Tasty Klair Pies, Lemon Pies, and French Apple Pies.

After dinner, we drove down to Glenside, Pennsylvania, to visit the area where my mother grew up. She hadn't been there in years and enjoyed seeing how things have changed. She was born and raised in the same house that her parents continued to live in until they moved into the same retirement community where my mother lives now, so I had lots of memories from the area too. The Thomas Williams Junior High School that she had attended has been closed, and the area has been converted to the Thomas Williams Park and incorporates the old front steps of the school building.

We returned to my mother's apartment around 7:05, and my arms were tired from lifting the soap box cars yesterday. I worked up another blog entry. We worked on a jigsaw puzzle, and finished it.
