July 24, 2010, a Saturday
Parker (K2), Colorado, USA
— Sat at The Majestic Gallery and had GJ for a sleepover
I got up around my normal time and had my normal breakfast: a bowl of Post Raisin Bran with skim milk and a cup of coffee made with LavAzza Gran Filtro Dark Roast coffee that I grind in a Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder and brew in an AeroPress coffee maker. I made lunch and packed up my computer and was all ready to leave in the Jeep around 9:00. Unfortunately, the Jeep wasn't ready to leave. When I turned the key to start it, nothing happened — not even clicking like the starter was trying to work. I got out our Husky emergency battery, and that got the starter to make a clicking noise, but the engine still wouldn't turn over. J came out and confessed that she had probably left the dome light on in the back of the Jeep all night. We borrowed K2's car to jump the Jeep, and I left around 9:15.

Because I was already running late, I decided to stop at the Kwik Car Wash to get the Jeep washed. The windows were filthy from towing it down from Crested Butte, and the car wash not only made it easier for me to see, it also revealed the nice red paint job that was hiding under all of the dirt.

Traffic was heavy and slow shortly before I got on I-25 and then also on C-470, both due to construction.

I finally reached The Majestic Gallery in Idaho Springs, Colorado, around 10:40, just slightly after the (unofficial) 10:00 opening time. The Majestic Gallery is a co-op gallery where I display some of my work, and each of the 33 members sit at the gallery once a month to "run the store." It was the first day of the 2nd Annual Gold Rush Music Festival, and there were lots of people in town which meant a lot more people than usual in the gallery. I had never seen so many people go through the gallery in one day, and I had more sales than I've ever had, both in terms of the number of transactions and dollar value. Fortunately I didn't have much work to do while I was up there because those darn customers took a lot more of my time than they usually do. (I usually try to sit on a weekday because there are usually fewer customers than on a weekend.)

I had lunch around 12:15 shortly before the first big rush of sales. There was a Verizon Broadband Access signal that was much faster than the National Access signal I had gotten there before. While I wasn't being interrupted by helping customers, I worked up a blog entry for two days ago, but I couldn't finish it because I needed to refer to a map that was in the RV. Then I did a first-pass downselect of the images from yesterday morning in Capture One (C1). Two customers were in the gallery at the unofficial closing time of 5:00, and as I was helping them with a purchase, other customers came in. The new customers didn't buy anything, but the policy is to keep the doors open as long as there are customers in the gallery, so I patiently waited for them to finish before I closed the doors around 5:30. Then I closed out the day and shut everything down before I left around 5:40.

I stopped at the Loaf 'N Jug in Parker to fill up the Jeep at $2.509/gal using our 3¢/gal discount.

I returned to the RV around 6:50 — just in time to pick up J and then leave to meet DilK (J's Daughter-in-law K) and the grandkids for dinner. Fortunately, DilK was running a little late and had called J, so I had some time to clean up some things in the RV before we left.

We went to the August Moon (Chinese Restaurant) in Parker around 7:10 to celebrate DilK's birthday early. SJ (J's Son J) was working and couldn't join us, but we got him some takeaway. We started off with two orders of Cheese Wantons to share with everyone, then I had General Tao's Chicken and J had Sesame Chicken. We took GJ (grandson J, age 5) home with us for a sleepover.

It was the first time we've had GJ over for a sleepover, and we were a bit unsure how it would go. The last time GJ slept over at J's, about three years ago, GJ didn't sleep well at all. Fortunately, this time GJ was a joy to have.

We returned to the RV around 8:50. I finished the blog entry for two days ago and took it live. Then I set up one of our Thermarest-like sleeping pads in the living room for GJ to put his blanket on, and we went to bed.
