October 5, 2010, a Tuesday
Uinta National Forest to Lehi (Cabela's), Utah, USA
— Photographed fog and aspens then went to town
We got up around our normal time and there was a solid cloud layer covering the mountain peaks and fog down lower. I made coffee to go and J started a mug of tea steeping and we left in the Jeep around 7:40.

We headed up and over Guardsman Pass and down Big Cottonwood Canyon, but the clouds weren't too interesting, so we went back up and over Guardsman Pass. The clouds on the south side were mingling nicely with the trees on the mountainside, and we had a ball photographing there (far left). Then we headed further down the road and stopped to photograph the aspen trunks. The diffuse light from the solid cloud layer was great, and I focussed my attention on the trunks that were curved instead of straight (near left).

We returned to the RV around 10:00 and I stowed the solar-electric panels. We prepped the RV to move and got underway around 10:30 with me in the RV and J following in the Jeep.

We went up and over Guardsman Pass and then headed down Big Cottonwood Canyon.

We went to the UPS Store in Cottonwood Heights around 11:25 so I could drop off a package with one of the items I had eBayed.

We walked to the nearby Carl's Jr. for lunch. We both got a Famous Star (cheeseburger), but I got the combo (fries and a Coke) and J got fried zucchini and water.

We returned to the RV around noon and I printed a shipping label for an item I had eBayed and had gotten paid for since last night. I left in the Jeep around 12:15 and ...

Went to the Post Office in Midvale to ship off packages for items I had eBayed.

I returned to the RV around 12:40. We left around 12:50 with me in the RV and J in the Jeep.

J went to Smith's Food & Drug to start grocery shopping and ...

I went to the nearby Tesoro (gas station) to see if I could get some fresh water for the RV. I couldn't, but cleaned the cab windows of the RV, and it was nice to have them clean!

I went to the Maverik (gas station) across the street, and was able to take on fresh water there.

I went to Smith's Food & Drug around 1:15 and went inside to pick up my lunch stuff. I returned to the RV around 1:35 and J kept shopping. We left around 2:25.

We stopped at the Walgreen's (drug store) in Midvale around 2:45 so I could get some passport photos and J got some DVDs from the Red Box kiosk. We left around 4:00.

I made a last-minute decision to go to The Barber School to get a $5 hair cut. I had been thinking about getting a hair cut for the last couple of weeks, and I just couldn't pass up a $5 hair cut. Well, maybe I should have because the barber in training didn't didn't give me the best cut I've ever had, but on more than one occasion I've spent about three times as much for a "real barber" who has made my hair look much worse.

I reached the Ruth Vine Taylor Salt Lake County Library around 4:50 and met up with J who had stopped at the Post Office to mail my passport renewal and an item she had eBayed. J took her laptop into the library to access their free Wi-Fi and I stayed in the RV to process an image for the blog. Then I went inside the library to use the Wi-Fi too. I worked up a blog entry and did some things online. We left around 7:00 in the Jeep.

We went to the Bohemian Brewery for dinner around 7:15. I got a pint of Cherny Bock (a Schwartzbeir) to go with the special Salmon with a balsamic vinegar glaze and J got a Pear Salad. The beer was tasty and we both enjoyed the bread. It reminded me of typical German bread, and J loved the cream-cheese/olive spread on it. The mains were delicious!

We returned to the RV around 8:15 and then left with me in the RV and J following in the RV.

We went to Cabela's in Lehi around 8:45 to spend the night. After we got settled, I went into Cabela's to return the Cabela's Outfitter Wooltimate Fleece Stocking Cap in Outfitter Camo because the "One Size Fits Most" didn't fit me — it was too large and fell down over my eyes. I also took a quick look around and saw that they had a Cabela's 650 Goose Down Jacket in Medium Tall in stock! I returned to the RV and did some computer work before going to bed.
