April 9, 2010, a Friday
San Antonio (San Antonio Riverside Park) to Sugarite Canyon State Park (Lake Alice), New Mexico, USA
— Moved down the road
We took it easy this morning after such a long day yesterday. I had my normal breakfast then started to work up a blog entry. We left at 9:10 and headed north on I-25.

We went to the McDonald's in Socorro around 9:30 so J could get a Breakfast Burrito to go.

We went to the Spin City in Socorro at 9:35 to do our laundry. This is one of our favorite laundromats. It's large, clean, and reasonably priced. After we started the laundry, I finished up a blog entry then did some online banking. We left at 11:20 and continued heading north on I-25..

There were some nice puffy clouds to the northwest — we hadn't seen many clouds for the last couple of weeks, and nothing like that. I listened to an episode of Car Talk.

We went to the Trader Joe's on the east side of Albuquerque at 12:50 and parking was difficult. The only other time we had visited this particular Trader Joe's we were in the Jeep so I didn't pay that much attention to the parking situation. I had lunch in the RV before going in to shop. J stayed in the RV and did some things online. We left at 1:50.

We went to a nearby Valero gas station to fill up the RV and Jeep at $2.729/gal. We were expecting $2.629/gal, but that was the price with a car wash. Instead of driving around town to find cheaper gas, we just filled up there. We left at 2:11 and continued heading north on I-25.

I listened to another episode of Car Talk.

We stopped at a rest area at 4:43 so I could stretch my legs. Yes, that's a euphemism and also the truth. Our Bigfoot is based on a Ford E-450 van chassis, and because the engine protrudes into the cab, there's not much foot room which makes it hard to keep the circulation moving in ones feet on a long drive. We got underway again at 4:46.

We went to the Post Office in Raton around 6:25 so J could mail something, then ...

We went to the McDonald's in Raton around 6:30 to get some internet before we camped tonight. We couldn't access the McDonald's Wi-Fi, so we used the Verizon Wireless Broadband signal. We left around 7:15.

We entered Sugarite Canyon State Park at 7:30 and reached the Lake Alice Campground at 7:36. We unhooked the Jeep then occupied Site 13 — our favorite non-electric site. As I was putting out some Lynx Levelers, a Ranger pulled up and asked if the site would be OK because at this time of year (how vague is that?) they allow RVs and campers to occupy an electric site and only charge the non-electric rate if they don't use the electricity. I took a shower while J ate dinner of the fresh from the oven Pillsbury French Bread to go along with some reheated J's Beef Stew.

I had dinner around 8:15 of the not so fresh from the oven Pillsbury French Bread and reheated J's Beef Stew.

After dinner, I processed two images for the blog, put away the rest of my laundry, then started to work up a blog entry.
