April 10, 2010, a Saturday
Sugarite Canyon State Park (Lake Alice), New Mexico, to Parker (K), Colorado, USA
— Went "home" and saw the grandkids
I had my normal breakfast then finished a blog entry. We prepped the RV to move, and left the camp site around 7:50. We went to the dump station then took on fresh water and hooked up the Jeep to tow. We left at 8:37.

We headed north on I-25 and went over Raton Pass and into Colorado at 8:57.

We went to the Safeway in Trinidad at 9:18 to get 15 gal (57l) of gas in the RV at $2.689/gal using our 3¢ discount to get us down the road to cheaper gas. We finished fueling around 9:27 and then pulled into their general parking lot to go online through the Verizon Wireless Broadband signal. We left at 10:12.

I listened to an episode of Car Talk and had a Clif Bar for a first course of lunch.

We stopped at a KFC on the south side of Colorado Springs at 12:27 so J could get some takeaway. I had two more Clif Bars to finish lunch. We left at 12:37.

We went to a Loaf 'N Jug on the north side of Colorado Springs at 12:52 to fill up the RV and Jeep with gas at $2.569/gal using our 3¢ discount. The pumps were extremely slow! We left at 1:23.

We stopped at a parking lot in Parker at 2:35 to unhook the Jeep. J took the Jeep to go to the Parker Library to pick up items that had arrived for her and I took the RV ...

To K's in Parker where we'll be staying for a week or so. J returned around 3:02 and I left in the Jeep at 2:04.

I went to Crossroads Barbershop to get my hair cut by usual barber. I was shocked to find out that my usual barber, Barb (how's that for a barber's name?) had died while we were away. I had my hair cut by one of the other barbers, and he did a decent job.

I returned to the RV and took a shower to get the hair spray and hair clippings out of my hair. I did some computer work, then we left in the Jeep around 5:40.

We went to a nearby Pizza Hut to pick up some Pizza Mia pizzas: one pepperoni, one cheese, and one half sausage and half pineapple.

We took the pizzas over to SJ&DilK's (J's Son J and Daughter-in-law K's) for dinner. The grandkids (GA, grandson A, age 8.5; GJ, grandson J, age 4.5; and GS, granddaughter S, age 3) were happy to see us. :) We went outside and played baseball with the kids using an unusual set of rules, and we all had fun. We had dinner of the Pizza Hut Pizza Mia pizzas, and I just love the crust on those pizzas! We had fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

We returned to the RV around 8:45 and started opening up the packages that we had had sent to SJ&DilK's. The Quantum Cable CZ to power a Canon Speedlite worked great as did the Quantum QT49 10-ft (3m) extension cord. :) The CZ cable will replace one with an intermittent connection and the QT49 extension cord will make it much easier to power the flash for the background for our hummingbird setup. The Canon TS-E 24mm f3.5 L II tilt-shift lens is large! It'll take me a while to get used to operating it because the control levers and knobs are different enough from my Mk I version that the Mk II lens feels really odd. The Dyson universal fit accessory adaptor will let us use the accessories that we had purchased with our Dyson DC24 vacuum — finally!
