— Introduced my mother to an iPad
I awoke before J and kept quiet in the office part of our suite. J got out of bed in time to catch me before I went to breakfast, so I waited for her to get ready. We went to breakfast around 8:25. I had a cheese omelet and whole-wheat toast and J had French toast on cinnamon-swirl bread. After breakfast, I started a load of laundry then worked up a blog entry. We left around 11:35.

We went to my mother's apartment and then to the dining room at her retirement community for lunch. I had a salad from the salad bar then some tasty breaded pork chops, mashed potatoes, and sauerkraut. J had lentil soup and a large salad from the salad bar. We both had a slice of key lime pie for dessert — mmm. After lunch we returned to my mother's apartment and J set up the new microwave oven for my mother while I did some things online. We all left around 3:45.

J and I took my mother to the Apple Store in King of Prussia to show her the new iPad. My mother doesn't have a computer and doesn't want one because she thinks they're complicated, take up space she doesn't have, and aren't very useful. So, neither J nor I told my mother where we were taking her, and she was asking all sorts of questions about where we were going. As we walked into the mall to find the Apple Store, I started to explain why we had dragged her down there, namely we wanted to show her a neat portable device that would let her get email and provide another way for her to carry pictures around to show her friends. Right now, because she doesn't have email, my uncle J (her brother, not Unky Joom) prints out my newsletters so she can read them. My mother had fun playing with the iPad and found some Apps that appealed to her. We didn't do too much of a hard sell to have her buy one on the spot because only the WiFi version is available now and she would need the 3G version that will be available at the end of the month. She was having so much fun with the iPad that we lost track of time and had to rush out of there to make our next appointment.

We went to the Olive Garden in North Wales to have dinner with my cousin S and family — wife D and daughter L. All of my cousins from my mother's brother have the same initials, and because this is a different cousin than the one that had us over for dinner, I'll call this cousin CS2. Bread sticks were on the table when we arrived because we were a little late. My mother got some Chicken & Gnocchi soup and the rest of us started with a bottomless salad. I had the Herb-Grilled Salmon. It was on the well-done side, but not yet a hockey puck, and was still tasty. J had Eggplant Parmigiana that she enjoyed. J and I split a piece of Tiramisu for dessert, and it was one of the better one's I've had in the US.

After dinner, we all walked to the Staples next door to get some things: batteries for J and my mother, and some notebooks for L.

We returned to the B&B around 8:40 and my mother dropped us off because she'll need her car tomorrow morning. I finished putting away the laundry from this morning then did some computer work before going to bed.
