May 3, 2010, a Monday
Parker (K2) to Rabbit Valley BLM, Colorado, USA
— Headed out
I had my normal breakfast then prepped the RV to move. We hooked up the Jeep to tow and got underway around 8:10.

We stopped at the McDonald's in Idaho Springs around 9:20 so J could return a RedBox movie.

I dropped J off at the Post Office in Idaho Springs then went to the dump station in the Idaho Springs City Park and dumped. J arrived shortly after I started to dump. We left and ...

Went to the Idaho Springs Public Works building to get water. We got underway around 9:55 and continued heading west on I-70.

I listened to an episode of Car Talk.

We stopped at the Loaf 'N Jug gas station in Eagle around 11:45 to fill up the RV at $2.879/gal which included a 10¢/gal King Soopers discount. While I was fueling and cleaning off the windows, J walked across the street to Wendy's and got some take-away. We got underway around 12:10.

I had Clif Bars for lunch.

We went to a Conoco in Glenwood Springs around 1:05 to get propane. The tank was down around 1/8, and the attendant only filled it to 3/4. That's the problem with getting propane at a gas station — the attendants usually don't fill the tank more than 3/4 full. Usually, the attendants at regular propane filling stations will fill it almost to full. We got underway again around 1:15.

We went to the City Market grocery store, a Kroger affiliate, in Grand Junction around 2:50 to get gas in the RV before leaving Colorado at $2.699/gal including our 10¢/gal King Soopers discount. J went into the store to pick up a few things while I fueled the RV. We got underway around 3:05.

We went to the Rabbit Valley BLM (Bureau of Land Management) area, just off Exit 2, around 3:55 to spend the night. We had been planning to go to a boondocking spot near Moab, UT, but the weather forecast is for strong winds the next two days — not good for photographing the wildflowers in Arches National Park. So, we decided to stop here for the night and regroup. J went online through the fast Verizon Wireless Broadband signal and I cleaned off the dirt from our solar-electric panels from the dirty rain storm we had on Thursday. I did some computer work.

We had dinner at 6:50 of frozen J's Minestrone Soup and City Market Foccacia Jalapeño Cheese Chopped Bread. I must say that I didn't think jalapeños belonged in bread, but that bread changed my mind — it was tasty.

I did more computer work. My mother called, and she sounded happier than she has in about a year. I worked up a blog entry before going to bed.
