July 19, 2010, a Monday
near Crested Butte South to Crested Butte, Colorado, USA
— Took the Jeep in for repair and had dinner at the East Side Bistro
We got up around our usual time. A beautiful male Rufous Hummingbird was perched on our feeder holder just on the other side of the window by our dinette while I had breakfast. He was defending his turf and driving away the other hummingbirds when they tried to come feed. I started to work up a blog entry. I called Crested Butte Auto Repair around 9:10 to see if we could being the Jeep in today, and they said we could. We prepped the RV to move and left around 9:35 with J in the Jeep and me following in the RV. J had Bossy, our GPS, so she could get us where we had to go and she wouldn't have to drive through the dust trail of the RV. She could go much faster in the Jeep than I could on the bumpy dirt road, so I didn't have to deal with much of the dust that she created.

We reached Crested Butte Auto Repair around 10:00 and dropped off the Jeep so they could look at our power steering problem. We left in the RV and ...

Went to the Crested Butte Wastewater Treatment Plant around 10:15 where we dumped and took on fresh water.

We parked next to the Crested Butte Public Library at 10:45 and J was able to get a nice strong Wi-Fi signal from the library in the office of the RV. I went inside the library to look at some of the wildflower field guides to try to identify the tiny white flowers I photographed yesterday, and I didn't see anything that looked like it at all. :( I returned to the RV and J said that the Wi-Fi signal had dropped way down and was practically useless. I went online through a fast Verizon Broadband Access signal. I called Crested Butte Auto Repair around 11:50 to find out the status of the Jeep. They found a broken line, ordered the part from Jeep, and it'll arrive via UPS tomorrow.

We found out that some of our images placed in the July monthly competition of the Mile High Wildlife Photography Club (MHWPC). My Two Swift Fox Kits (above left) came in first in the Master's Wildlife category, my Bighorn Sheep Ram (above right) came in third in the Master's Wildlife category, and J's Moustached (left) came in second in the Master's Wildlife Captive or Controlled category.

I had lunch at 12:10 then processed five images for the blog. I was going to order a Droid X from the Verizon website, but they were estimating a ship date of July 27th now instead of the 23rd like they had been on Friday, so I think I'll wait and try one out in a Verizon Wireless store. We called my mother at 2:05. After catching up, we helped her connect her Apple Wireless Keyboard to her iPad. After we finished, I finished the blog entry and took it live. We moved the RV forward around 3:55 so that we could get a better Wi-Fi signal from the library. I processed images for a stock submission. We left on foot around 6:20.

We walked to the Post Office and looked for a place to eat.

We went to the East Side Bistro for dinner. It's a nice, small, upscale place, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The food was great and we had a nice view of the mountains. We each started with a bowl of Fresh-off-the-cob Corn Chowder finished with a herb drizzle and smoked Bacon, and it was delicious. I enjoyed a glass of Veramonte Sauvignon Blanc from Casablanca Valley, Chile, as we split the special of Sea Bass that was served whole over a bed of quinoa with sautéed asparagus and cherry tomatoes and covered with a saffron/butter sauce — mmm. Then we split a Chocolate Toffee Cupcake with toasted Hazelnuts, finished with Caramel and Chocolate drizzles and fresh whipped cream for dessert.

We returned to the RV around 8:20 and I processed more images for a stock submission.
